Argentina will be looking to spring into life at the Copa America after hardly impressing in their three opening group games. As ever, you will be able to cover all the action from the 2019 Copa America via beIN CONNECT.

Argentina secured their spot in the quarter-finals with an unconvincing 2-0 victory over invited side Qatar. Goals in either half from Lautaro Martínez and Sergio settled the tie for la Albaceleste who limped out of Group B. The fourteen-time Copa America winners will have to improve significantly if they are to reach the final in 2016.

Lionel Scaloni has yet to sign a long-term contract with the Argentinian FA, and that has certainly shown in his team selections from the first three games. Having changed around players in defence, midfield and attack, bar Messi it might be time to pick a settled side on Friday evening.

Argentina Predicted Team
Armani; Casco, Otamendi, Pezzella, Tagliafico; Pereyra, Lo Celso, Paredes; Martínez, Messi, Aguero

Kick-Off – 10:00 PM

As for Venezuela, they secured second place in Group A at the expense of Peru, following a 3-1 win over Bolivia in their final group game. Darwin Machis was the star of the show for La Vinotinto grabbing a brace in the victory.

Rafael Dudamel’s side has been built on strong defensive principles and that has been underlined by the performances of Al Ahli centre back Jhon Chancellor. Having kept clean sheets against the likes of Peru and Brazil, Venezuela will be quietly confident of shutting out the 2016 finalists.

Venezuela will look to Salomón Rondón to lead the line, and the former Newcastle striker has impressed so far in the tournament. Argentina struggled in their group opener against the physicality of Duvan Zapata and that could be the best way to unsettle the fourteen-time Copa America winners. Combine that with the pace and trickery of Darwin Machís, and Venezuela may just have enough to get the better of an out of sorts La Albaceleste.

Venezuela Predicted Team
Farinez; Hernandez, Chancellor, Villanueva, Rosales; Savarino, Herrera, Moreno, Rincon, Machis; Rondon

It certainly promises to be a fascinating encounter as Argentina look to get their Copa America campaign back on track, against a hard to beat Venezuela. Follow all the action from the game via beIN CONNECT.

Argentina: So, it looks like the attack will still be Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Lautaro Martinez. But don't be surprised to see more minutes from Paulo Dybala. He played just 15 minutes last time out but managed to set up Aguero for the second goal. The big question is how this team will line up in the middle with Giovani Lo Celso failing to live up to the hype.

Venezuela: Undefeated at the tournament, Venezuela is really impressing at the cup and is no easy out. They've got a strong core, a talented young goalkeeper and believe they can contend. Having drawn Brazil, that gives them more than enough confidence to beat an inconsistent Argentina side. Expect Venezuela to not be pushed over and compete to the very end in a tight game.

Argentina vs. Venezuela prediction
Argentina moves on in a tight match thanks to some Messi magic.

Pick: Argentina 2, Venezuela 1

Prediction: Draw
Best Odds: 2/1

The Copa America is set to get underway, as we prepare for what should be a really entertaining summer of international action. Some folks aren’t going to be all too interested in seeing what happens, but we tend to believe some of the world’s best teams will be taking part in this tournament. Sure, the 2018 FIFA World Cup would suggest otherwise, but we’ll put that to one side for now. We’re here to talk about Venezuela vs Peru, which has the potential to be one of the games of the tournament.

Venezuela
Venezuela aren’t exactly one of the big dogs in the South American football scene, but they’ve certainly got a passionate fanbase. Their last six game run began with a 1-1 draw against Japan, before they went on to draw 1-1 with Iran too. They shockingly managed to defeat Argentina, but followed it up with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador. They then lost 3-1 to Mexico, and in their most recent game, they really did cause quite a stir as they absolutely destroyed the United States in a 3-0 triumph.

Team News

Josef Martinez is set to make it to the bench, with Salomon Rondon being favoured as the lone forward. Rafael Dudamel is expected to feature many of the same members of the starting XI as he did against the USA.

Peru
Peru went into the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a lot of momentum, but they weren’t really able to capitalise on that as they probably would’ve hoped. In their last six games they’ve certainly had mixed fortunes, starting with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ecuador before they were beaten 3-2 by Costa Rica. They went on to defeat Paraguay 1-0, but they came crashing back down to earth with a 2-0 defeat to El Salvador. They went on to get some revenge on Costa Rica with a 1-0 win, but a 3-0 loss to Colombia put them right back where they started.

Team News

Jefferson Farfan is expected to start on the bench as he isn’t really a regular these days, whereas Paolo Guerrero will get the nod to feature.

Factors to Consider
Peru lead the overall head to head standings 20-8 with six draws.
Venezuela have two wins, three draws and one loss in their last six games.
Peru have two wins and four losses in their last six games.
Venezuela have scored 10 goals and conceded seven in their last six games.
Peru have scored four goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
Conclusion
We can see this being a pretty entertaining encounter, as Venezuela prepare to come out swinging. They’re going to have built up some momentum from their most recent win, and we really want to see that translate into a fun game. We can’t imagine that it wouldn’t, especially given some of the superstars Peru have in their ranks. A draw probably isn’t going to do a whole lot for either team within their group, but who knows, perhaps it’ll inspire them to put on an absolute classic against the Brazilians.

Prediction: Draw
Best Odds: 2/1
